Mother-of-pearl is the interior coating, with iridescent reflections, of certain mollusk shells. It is widely used in marquetry, jewelry and in the manufacture of buttons. Mother-of-pearl is said to have other virtues and benefits, acting in symbiosis on the body and mind. Thus, mother-of-pearl would promote bone regeneration and the circulation of fluids in the body. It also soothes anger and tension caused by daily stress. It is often worn around the neck as a necklace, or placed on a bedside table.
